President's Day Road Trip

Well, the boys and I were feeling like the walls are closing in and were missing our family in Maryland. So..... we hopped in the car and headed North on Presidents day to visit with Grammy, Aunt Lindsay and Cousin James. We had a really nice time and the visit did just what it needed for us. We got to play with and cuddle with James, get hugs from Grammy and make Aunt Lindsay nuts as we are so good at! Unfortunately, we had to head home a little early as Brandon was started running a really bad fever.

Playtime with Cousin James!

Don't ya just want to squish that cute little face!!!

Grammy and her boys, Brandon is snuggling with chills under the blanket!

James is just plum worn out. He fell asleep right before we left.

Love Is In The Air...

Mom, I already know how to roll the dough!

See, I told you.....

I am now rolling into week 3 at home and going slightly stir crazy. Each day I get up shuffle the kids off to school and start searching the internet for possibilities. I have many irons in many fires and continue to try to keep my spirits up. I was having a particularly low week this past week until I started working on Valentines Day activities with the boys. On Wednesday night the three of us sat down and stuffed goodie bags with treats and signed Valentines for their friends. Ryan and Brandon teased each other about the cards for their "girlfriends". Man, who would have thought my two little men would be talking about girlfriends at 4 and 7 years old. Thursday after I picked up Ryan from school we turned the kitchen upside down to bake sugar cookies for his school party on Friday. We had so much fun and made only a tiny mess. Ryan really loves to be in the kitchen and showed me he already knew how to roll out the dough. These plans with the boys truly brightened my day and lifted my spirits.

Let's make sure they pass the taste test!

To thank the 3 wonderful men in my life for being so supportive, on Saturday Ryan, Brandon and I baked Valentines day cakes. The boys mainly put the ingredients into the bowl then I mixed. They proceeded to stalk the oven and the cake until it was cool enough to frost it. Afterward, we all sat down and shared our yummy treat together. It was a very nice Valentines Day.

Spring Training Has Begun....

Brandon taking a few shots with the practice (plastic bat) which he cracked!

Eddie and Brandon practicing catching and throwing

We had some crazy warm weather this weekend so Eddie and Brandon took full advantage of it to get in some batting practice in the back yard. Baseball season will start in April so no time like the present! I sat out back reading my book enjoying the 65 degree weather and enjoying the laughter of the boys and their dad.

Ryan tried to join in and take a few hits but got a little frustrated when he could not connect the bat and ball. We made sure to tell him he was doing really well and that it took Brandon a while before he caught on. Looks like t-ball will be in our future for him next year. All though he has been showing interest in soccer too.

Dad, let me try, let me try!!!

Finally, after 3 hours they were all wiped out and we went inside to cool off. Brandon has since been wishing for warm days so he and Eddie can practice more. Eddie has decided not to coach this season so he can sit back and enjoy watching Brandon play ball. Brandon is very excited about that. This is his last season of Coach Pitch. Next year he will have to go through the tryout process and be drafted onto a team. Oh the joys of Little League.
